Our Winning Weekend in Pennsylvania!

What a weekend our supporters had knocking on doors for Anna Thomas for Pennsylvania!  Our group of 20 volunteers spent Saturday, September 7 and Sunday, September 8 with the amazing local campaign team, and collectively did 34 shifts, knocked on an astonishing 1,100 doors, and spoke to about 250 voters!

We can’t say enough about how fun and impactful this weekend turned out to be.  Let’s talk about the fun part first.  We had a great time with the lovely campaign team, Anthony and Michael, and our truly amazing local activist host Karen who welcomed us to her wonderful and historic farmhouse, fed us lunch and snacks, and shared her deep insights on the community - what people care about, and how to have the biggest impact in our conversations at the door.  And Bethlehem, PA is a great place to visit in the fall (or any time of year!)  It’s in the lovely Lehigh Valley, with a charming and historic downtown.  We wound up our day on Saturday at a great local brewery, walked around the UNESCO World Heritage site where we learned about the historic Moravian community, wandered along the River Walk and enjoyed breakfast at the social justice focused coffee house Bitty and Beau’s.

Despite the rain on Saturday afternoon, all our volunteers had meaningful conversations and talked about how much they enjoyed the experience!  It made an enormous difference to have Anna there with us to launch the canvass and tell us about her own experiences talking to voters- what they care about and what to expect from the conversations.  Our volunteers told us how they felt they had learned a lot from the conversations, and all the experiences at doors were good experiences, even when the voters weren’t ready to engage in deeper conversations.  Our volunteers also appreciated the effectiveness of our strategy of going local and not just talking about the top of the ticket.

And now for the impact:  as Anna reminded us, she ran for this same seat two years ago and lost by just 700 votes.  We reached 250 people in just one weekend and it’s still only early September.  As she also reminded us, Bethlehem, PA and this district have been a bellwether for the way the state of Pennsylvania votes in Presidential elections in nearly every single election this century.  Every vote we delivered for Anna was also a vote for Susan Wild for the House of Representatives, Bob Casey for Senate, and of course Kamala Harris and Tim Walz!

We can win every single one of these races up and down the ballot if we stay focused and do what’s most effective.  Want to experience the best canvass ever?

Anna’s team and Susan Wild’s team are ready for an even bigger and better weekend of action in Bethlehem, PA on October 12-13.
